Let's Discover the Best Tobacco Pipe brands
Before we dive into the review of the best tobacco pipe brands, it is good to make a premise.
There is no brand that can be considered uniquely better than all the others, because each one encloses a philosophy, which sets it apart and differentiates it from the rest of the brands.
Fabio, with his great knowledge of the tobacco pipe world, told us about the peculiarities of some brands, paying some attention to their history as well.
In this article we will obviously talk about Dunhill, which has undoubtedly revolutionized the tobacco pipe market, but also focusing on the brands that have built the Italian tradition of tobacco pipe making.
What are the best tobacco pipes in the world?
The first brand we will talk about, and one that has always figured among the best tobacco pipe brands, is Dunhill, a brand that holds an incredible history.
Dunhill, in fact, was the first company to offer tobacco pipes as a luxury good, something that created a profound rift with the past.
For the first time, an air of fine craftsmanship and exclusivity could be smelled in a tobacco pipe store, something that fascinated smokers of the time, who were used to quite different settings, in no small part.
In addition to its rich past, Dunhill became one of the number one tobacco pipe brands in the world for the classic shapes that characterize its models, with their timeless appeal.
Let us now turn to the pillars of the Italian tradition, certainly represented by Castello, Caminetto, Radice and Ascorti.
We are talking about craftsmen who first worked at Castello, only to take different paths later.
These four artisans created the Lombard school of the tobacco pipe, which has been very popular not only in Italy, but all over the world.
The Lombard school is distinguished by practicing slight variations to classic tobacco pipe shapes, found for example in Dunhill-branded models, but always maintaining a certain elegance.
An example of a typical modification of the Lombard school is the use of flock.
Another craftsman that one cannot help but mention is the late Giancarlo Guidi, with his Ser Jacopo of Pesaro, who gave birth to new shapes in which extrosity reigns supreme.
His work led to the creation of the Pesaro school in the early 1980s, which soon became a hotbed of tobacco pipe-making artisans.
A distinctive feature of Ser Jacopo’s tobacco pipes is the original modeling, well represented by the Delecta tobacco pipe, with its free form, which has become a trademark of the Pesaro school.
Another craftsman particularly known for their whimsicality is Amorelli.
All of these names demonstrate how Made in Italy has a great tradition in the field of tobacco pipes.
Also noteworthy is the Danish school, with the Bang, Larsen, and Winslow brands, recognizable by their particular modeling, free-form, characterized very often by sinuous shapes.
Beyond tobacco pipes made by the hands of artisans, there are numerous brands that also create tobacco pipes industrially, while still producing quality models, such as Savinelli and Brebbia in Italy, but also Chacom, Stanwell and Peterson.
How to tell if a tobacco pipe is good?
Figuring out if a tobacco pipe is good is very simple.
First of all, a quality tobacco pipe does not get too hot and tends to be dry, not forming much waterlogging.
Obviously, you should be wary of tobacco pipes offered at bargain prices, but always go to retailers with proven reliability.
In case your smoking is not satisfactory, this is not necessarily always due only to the tobacco pipe; in fact, tobacco and the smoker himself can also be decisive.
The tobacco pipe is the instrument for smoking, but the one who drives it is the smoker, so you need to be careful and make sure, for example, that you have loaded it correctly or that the tobacco is not excessively moist.
Finally, we always advise newcomers to seek expert advice so that they can find a good tobacco pipe that will meet the needs of the smoking they intend to do.

I recently did a house clearance for a wealthy man of 45 who sadly died within 6 days from a virulent form cancer. In the clearance was a large collection of pipes which I am at a loss to value. Some are in their own leather cases, others are all displayed on stands with drawers for pipe cleaners etc. There are at least 50. If I were to send you a video would you be able to assist or advise me of their value? Many thanks Mary
