Robert McConnell Celebrated Sovereign: review
This is a Modern English Mixture, because in addition to the classic EM elements, it contains Black Cavendish.
I tend to call it a "royal ” blend because of the aromas it releases throughout the entire smoke: smoky notes of leather and wood that alternate with the spicy notes of Orientals, with the undertone of Black Cavendish never intruding.
All this is enhanced by Red Virginia, which gives aromas of dried fruit, particularly hazelnut.
Making the difference is the Oriental tobacco Dubek, matured together with the Black Cavendish by the “Scotch Presses” process.
The Black Cavendish, in my opinion, is crucial in this blend, because it smooths out the edges of the Latakia and Orientals.
The burn is smooth and even, while the nicotine load is low, so you can smoke it several times during the day.
Personally, I consider it one of my favorite EMs, especially during warmer days.
The quality of the tobaccos is excellent, both raw and in smoke. Since it is sold in 100 g tin, trying it may be a good idea to approach a different EM than usual.
I would recommend Celebrated Sovereign to anyone who wants to approach EM or Latakia because it is not too intense in Latakia and nicotine load.
