Franco Rossi, with the firm Il Ceppo, continues the long tradition of pipe artisans in the Marche region.

Rossi took over Il Ceppo in 1995 from Giorgio Imperatori.

He had previously collaborated with Bruto Sordini (Don Carlos) and Giancarlo Guidi (Ser Jacopo), while maintaining a style traceable to the Marche school, but introduced distinctive new elements.

Rossi, together with his sister, produces about 1,500 pipes a year, with much of the production being exported. Having had the good fortune to know him, it can be said that Rossi's pipes are an expression of his personality, that is, reserved but sincere and enduring pipes.

The history of Il Strappo tobacco pipes begins in 1970, products of the great Marche tradition of pipe production. These early years, however, were spent relatively anonymously with the company being unknown to the general public. In 1978 the company was taken over by Giorgio Imperatore who gave a push to ensure that the Il Strano tobacco pipes were sold all over the world.

The leadership of the company remained in the hands of Imperatore until 1995 when the company passed into the hands of Franco Rossi who, still today with the il Ceppo company, continues the long tradition of pipe artisans from the Marche region.

The pipe strain under the guidance of Franco Rossi and his sister takes on new life and vigor. In the past Franco Rossi had collaborated with Bruto Sordini (Don Carlos) and Giancarlo Guidi (Ser Jacopo) and, while maintaining a style attributable to the Marche school, he introduced new characteristic elements such as the faceted heads of his tobacco pipes.
