Arran whisky comes from the island of the same name on which the distillery is located. The island of Arran is defined as "Scotland in miniature" precisely because of its climate and shape. This has allowed the creation of spirits and more which, by exploiting the characteristics of the place, have managed to produce very interesting results. The history of the brand begins in the early 1800s when illegal distilleries still dominated the landscape of Scotland. The production of Arran whisky began during these years but ended around 1837 when the Lagg distillery was closed.
The history of the brand resumes in 1993 when a new geographical position was chosen for the opening of the new distillery: Lochranza.
This was the first legal whisky establishment on the Isle of Arran for 160 years.

The Arran whisky collection includes different aging periods and different levels of peating which characterize the bottles released since 1997. Arran usually produces unpeated whiskeys which are aged for 10,14 and 18 years, always starting from 97.
At the same time, the Isle of Arran allows for peating of some of their whisky varieties that have been released in past years, such as Machrie Moor or the Smugglers Series released in 2015.
